How Microneedling Works

Microneedling uses a handheld device with tiny sterile needles to create controlled micro-injuries in the skin. These small punctures trigger the body’s natural healing process, boosting collagen and elastin production. Over time, this helps smooth the skin’s texture and reduce the appearance of acne scars.

Most clients need four to six sessions, spaced about six weeks apart. Visible results often take several months to appear as the skin continues to renew itself.

How Chemical Peels Work

Chemical peels use acidic solutions to exfoliate damaged skin and encourage cell turnover. Superficial peels target the outer layer of skin, while medium peels reach deeper to improve more noticeable scars. Deep peels can create dramatic changes but often require longer recovery and carry more risk.

The type and strength of the peel are customised to suit each client’s skin type and goals. For acne scars, multiple sessions are usually needed for the best results.

Choosing the Right Treatment

Your choice depends on your scar type, skin tone, and tolerance for downtime. Microneedling suits most skin tones since it doesn’t remove the surface layer. However, it may not be suitable for people with active acne, keloid or hypertrophic scars, certain blood disorders, or during pregnancy.

Chemical peels can effectively treat pigmentation and mild scarring. Still, medium and deep peels may cause hyperpigmentation or lightening in darker skin tones. They are not ideal for people with active infections, inflammatory skin issues, or a tendency to form keloids.

Consultation and Custom Care

A qualified practitioner can assess your skin and review any contraindications, such as pregnancy or blood-clotting concerns. They can then design a treatment plan suited to your needs.

Both microneedling and chemical peels can be enhanced with complementary therapies, such as platelet-rich plasma or topical treatments. At Hello Skin Clinic, we offer both treatments with halal-friendly protocols and the option to request a female practitioner.
