Microneedling Birmingham — Face & Scalp Treatment with Dr. Pen

Clinician-administered microneedling for acne scarring, fine lines, skin texture, and scalp hair — tailored to your skin at every session.

Microneedling uses fine, controlled needles to create micro-channels in the skin, triggering the body’s natural repair response. At Hello Skin Clinic in Birmingham, we use the Dr. Pen device — a professional-grade microneedling system — for both facial skin concerns and scalp treatments. Every session begins with a free in-person consultation to assess your skin and design your treatment plan.

Free in-person consultation required before treatment. Individual results may vary.

What Is Microneedling — and How Does It Work?

Microneedling is a minimally invasive skin treatment that uses a device with fine needles to create controlled micro-channels in the skin’s surface. These micro-injuries trigger the skin’s natural healing response — stimulating the production of collagen and elastin as the skin repairs itself.

The result, over a course of treatments, may be an improvement in skin texture, tone, and firmness. Microneedling is commonly used to address acne scarring, fine lines, enlarged pores, uneven skin tone, and stretch marks. When used on the scalp, the same mechanism may support the conditions associated with healthy hair follicle activity.

At Hello Skin Clinic, we use the Dr. Pen — a professional-grade motorised microneedling device that allows your clinician to precisely control needle depth and speed for each treatment area and skin type.

Microneedling for Face and Scalp — What It Can Address

Facial microneedling with the Dr. Pen is commonly used to address:

  • Acne scarring and post-acne marks
  • Fine lines and early signs of skin ageing
  • Enlarged or congested pores
  • Uneven skin tone and texture
  • Dull or devitalised skin

Sessions are typically spaced 4–6 weeks apart to allow the skin to complete its repair cycle between treatments. Most clients complete a course of 3–6 sessions depending on the concern being addressed. Individual results vary.

Scalp microneedling applies the same principle to the scalp — using the Dr. Pen to create micro-channels that may support scalp health and the conditions associated with hair follicle activity. It is commonly used alongside PRP hair treatment as part of a structured hair restoration programme.

What Happens at Your Microneedling Appointment

Step 1

Free Consultation

Your clinician assesses your skin or scalp, confirms suitability, and designs your treatment plan — including needle depth settings appropriate for your skin type and concern. No obligation to proceed.

Step 2

Preparation

A topical numbing cream is applied to the treatment area and left for 20–30 minutes before the session begins. The skin is then cleansed and prepped.

Step 3

The Treatment

The Dr. Pen device is passed over the treatment area in a systematic pattern. Your clinician adjusts the needle depth and speed for different zones. The session typically takes 30–60 minutes depending on the area treated.

Step 4

Post-Treatment

Redness and mild sensitivity are normal immediately after microneedling and typically settle within 24–48 hours. A soothing product is applied after the session. Full written aftercare instructions are provided. Sun protection is essential in the weeks following treatment.

Microneedling Birmingham — Frequently Asked Questions

How many microneedling sessions do I need?

Most clients complete a course of 3–6 sessions, spaced 4–6 weeks apart, depending on the concern being addressed. Acne scarring typically requires more sessions than general skin texture improvement. Your clinician will recommend a programme at your free consultation.

A topical numbing cream is applied before every session. Most clients describe the treatment as mild pressure or a light scratching sensation rather than pain. Sensitivity varies between individuals and treatment areas. The scalp tends to be more sensitive than the face.

Microneedling pricing at Hello Skin Clinic is confirmed at your free in-person consultation, as the appropriate course depends on your skin concern and the number of sessions recommended. Book via WhatsApp or call 0121 714 0999.

Microneedling is commonly used to address the appearance of acne scarring. By stimulating collagen production, it may help improve skin texture and the appearance of post-acne marks over a course of treatments. Individual results vary depending on the type and severity of scarring. Suitability confirmed at consultation.

Yes — scalp microneedling uses the same Dr. Pen device to create micro-channels on the scalp, which may support scalp health and the conditions associated with hair follicle activity. It is commonly used alongside PRP hair treatment. Ask about our Advanced Hair Loss Programme at your consultation.

Initial improvements in skin texture may be noticeable within 2–4 weeks of the first session, with more significant changes developing over the course of treatment. Collagen production continues for several months after a course is completed. Individual results vary.

Most clients experience redness and mild sensitivity for 24–48 hours following treatment — similar in appearance to mild sunburn. This typically settles quickly. Strenuous exercise, heat, and active skincare ingredients should be avoided for 48 hours. Full written aftercare is provided at every session.
